Stroud is a market town in Gloucestershire. It has a population of 32,670. The town is situated 10 miles south of Gloucester and 14 miles from Cheltenham.

Stroud was formerly a cloth town. Attractions include the Subscription Rooms, which is a Grade II listed building and opened in 1833. The rooms host entertainment and house the Tourist Information Centre. Stratford Park has a large park and lake as well as a leisure centre complex. The park features the Museum in the Park, which is a museum of local history and culture. A farmers' market takes place every Saturday at the Cornhill market. Stroud has independent shops and cafes.

The town has facilities for sports such as rugby, cricket, swimming and hockey.

Stroud has a number of primary and secondary schools, including Archway Comprehensive School, Marling School and Stroud High School. South Gloucestershire and Stroud College is a college of further education and higher education based in Stroud.

Stroud railway station offers services to destinations including London, Gloucester, Cheltenham and Swindon. There are bus services in operation in the town.
